Day one.
Not gonna lie, this past year has been a bit of a head fudger and I feel like, for good or for ill, its shooketh my creativity and general positivity, so for the love of retaining my sanity and good vibes I’ve decided to set myself an easy win through the form of an artistic project. I should probably get this out of the way, because I feel like I’ve maybe got some people’s hopes up here - it has nothing to do with potatoes - sorry about the misleading the title, but there may be plenty of loafs involved because anyone who knows me well enough knows, I love cats. Okay, okay, who am I trying to kid? You don’t need to know me that well to realise that. My aura screams Cat Lady.
For the next month I will be creating a small cat themed page a day in my sketchbook. The sole aim of this is to fill my own creative cup, so it’s all in the pursuit of fun times. Who knows what it might lead me to, but if nothing else it will be a jolly little experiment.
Maybe I should’ve waited to start this blog neatly on the first of the month, but in the spirit of my cute feline overlords, I DO WHAT I WANT.
I doubt very much anyone will read this anyway but to hold myself accountable (and perhaps more importantly make use of my website fees) I will be posting each day’s efforts on here, starting today. Behold, a sketch of my cat Dill in all her floofy glory »»»
This was inspired one of many photos I’ve taken of Dill. Not gonna lie, her tiny murder mittens make me what to squish her teeny little head. I don’t of course because I keep my cute aggression under control. This is partly motivated by the fact I would walk into a burning building for my cats wellbeing but also because Dill, like any self respecting creature, would immediately activate said murder mittens and promptly rip me a new one. I not only respect this behaviour but I endorse it. You’ve got to respect boundaries.
Is anyone else obsessed with their cats as much as I am with mine? If so, feel free to share your own cat related tales in the comments.
Until tomorrow, lots of loafs,
Ruth xx
